Not too long ago, I wasn't doing well. Work wasn't flowing. Love wasn't working. And slowly, I started losing sight of the good things I did have: family, friends and much more.
I felt stuck, hopeless, and eventually, I started wondering whether the world might be better off without me. Dark thoughts.
Thankfully, I opened up to a friend who urged me to try therapy, and I'm glad she did.
A few sessions in, I realised something big: my entire life, I had never truly felt confident.
From the outside, things might've looked fine. But on the inside, I was constantly being torn down by a brutal inner critic.
And here's where it gets interesting...
My therapist gave me an assignment: ask 10 friends or family members to write down 10 positive things about you.
"Ten?!" I asked.
"Ten." she said.
I thought it was a lot. But I did it. And the responses changed me.
I was so surprised by the beautiful words they wrote, but at the same time I also recognised that their words were about me. It made sense.
It showed me that people really see me and value me. Whenever I'd feel down after that, I'd go back to their words. Rereading them helped me reset, rebuild, and pull myself out of some of my toughest moments.
Eventually, I understood: I matter to people. And now, I understand why.
With Upliftful, I want to help others feel that too.
Because life's not always easy. And a little confidence can go a long way.
